Rendering of the North and Westbound Span when completed.

TARRYTOWN (Westchester County), NY –> The Tappan Zee Bridge has reached another milestone. The New Tappan Zee Westbound Span which will carry Interstate 87, Interstate 287, and the NYS Thruway North from Westchester to Rockland has been completed.  Since the towers were erected earlier this year, the girders have been connected one by one.  Finally, one more section was incomplete.  But on Saturday, the last girder was put in place, now making the New Tappan Zee Bridge span from Westchester to Rockland undisturbed.  The next phase consists of connecting the bridge to Interstate 287 and Interstate 87 North and West in South Nyack, and other cosmetic additions such as guardrails and road signs.  The New Bridge may open sooner than expected.
