Cancer is a disease that affects the lives of far too many people. You yourself may have had a loved one, or know someone whose life has been impacted by this aggressive disease.  Sadly, one of our classmates on the Hawks, Hevelin Naranjo, is involved in her own personal battle with the disease.  She is being  treated for bone cancer.  Please keep her in your thoughts and in your hearts.

You can show your support for Hevelin as she fights for recovery by wearing the yellow ribbons being distributed by your home base teachers.  In the coming days, we will be launching Operation Hevelina fundraising campaign to help Hevelin and her family in this time of dire need.  If you have any questions about Operation Hevelin and our fundraising efforts, please reach out to students on the Hawks.

Remember, Cancer does not discriminate. It does not see color. It does not care what your economic background is and it does not favor one gender over another.  It is an equal opportunity destroyer that has set its sight on one of our own.

So starting from Tuesday, January 17, show your support!  The Hawks will sell wristbands during your lunch periods for $1 each in our efforts to fund raise Hevelin
